Instructions

Note: These boards are flat stock with NO elevated tunnel attachment section as this design uses the factory L support for strength. As you lay the Better Board over the existing stock board you will notice that they appear wider then the foot board section. This is because you MUST remove the outer running board aluminum rail cover by drilling out the rivets on the bottom side. Temporarily remove this aluminum cover and set it aside. Once again you will be resting the Better Boards on the inner factory support L that is attached to the stock sled on the inside and over the factory running board base on the outside but under the cover.

  1. Position the board in place and using a marking pen trace out the openings as a template for cutting out the existing section. We recommend that your cut path be in one major space as opposed to cutting out individual window holes. It is advised to cut out a minimum of 1/8" wider then the template windows or section so that the underside doesn't show through after the boards are in place. Also note that on this model we grind down to flat with a slight taper towards the footwell the raised factory metal nearest the tunnel in the footwell. This allows the BB's to rest more flatly and have a less dramatic elevated base as you connect the BB to your existing running board in the front inside footwell area. We also recommend cutting the center cross beam creating a very short tab on the front most window for connecting a rivet up from the underside catching what is left of the factory running board and the Better Board. This keeps the boards from vibrating up front but there is no structural value here.

  2. There is an obvious right and left board with the tunnel edge being a straight cut and the outer edge being an angled taper cut. Drill out the base rivets (only on the running boards) from the factory L support connecting the tunnel to the running board but leave this L support in place and don't work on the rivets into the tunnel side. Later you will drill back up through the factory holes and catch the Better Board for additional support and strength as the Better Boards rest on this L support.

  3. Place the Better Boards in the final position and drill up from under the sled through the factory L support holes and attach a rivet. Always work from one end of the product to the other and set a rivet after each hole is drilled. That will alleviate metal bunching. Once you have completely drilled and re-riveted the inner side and all of the front footwell locations you can replace the outer aluminum plate. Drill up from the bottom through the Better Board using the aluminum cover as a template. (caution not to push the drill bit too far and puncture the cover). Rivet back through the factory cover sandwiching Better Board between the factory foot bed and the aluminum outer rail cover.
